I ordered the J-Talk Talking Bathroom Scale for my grandmother who has macular degeneration. She needs to check her weight on a daily basis. I received the scale and put the battery in to see how it worked. The only way I could get it to work was to hold the battery in place. (It is kinda hard to weigh yourself while your hands are on the bottom-side of the scale.) I went to the company's website to see how I could return this item as defective but there was no information on how to do so. I then contacted Amazon and they called me right away. I told them the problem and they said that they would send me a new one and it would be here the next day. I live in a small town and I figured it would take a couple of days to get the new scale. It was here the NEXT DAY as promised!! I was really amazed plus the scale worked. My grandmother also has limited hearing. I have poor vision and therefore wanted a talking scale. This one is great. The voice is clear and its volume can be controlled. It's also very accurate and consistent. As a test I placed a 10 pound weight on the scale several times and it read 10.01 lbs each time. Be aware, it comes preset to work in kilograms, so you have to switch it to pounds. Also, it does not self start. You have to tap it and then it will say "please step on the scale". Lastly, it's not a flat surface, but arched. It comes with grips that can be applied, but I did not use them. The 9 volt battery is attached to the packing.

We have a Heart Failure program in Home Health. We are using the J-Talk Talking scales as we discharge patients who have visual deficits and may not be able to afford them.
